Ingredients

  • 3/4? melted butter
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 cup thick buttermilk
  • 6.5 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ginger
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon lemon or orange extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Mix melted butter, molasses, and honey until smooth
  2. Add buttermilk (yoghurt), the the flour sifted with salt, ginger, baking powder, and baking soda
  3. Add lemon extract
  4. Mix to a smooth, stiff doug.
  5. Roll on a lightly floured surface to 1/3 inch
  6. Cut into shapes and place on ungreased baking sheet
  7. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes
  8. Cool on racks
